Join learning disability charity Brandon Trust as a Lead Support Worker, where you’ll be at the forefront of developing a service for an individual with exceptionally complex requirements, who lives in Devizes. You’ll join a supportive team in supporting an individual whom has autism and whose behaviour may be considered challenging. You’ll support the individual in all aspects of their daily life, enabling their fullest participation in the life of their community.
You’ll be assigned area(s) of lead responsibility; for example, autism, speech and language, positive behaviour management or health. As such you’ll be responsible for liaising with external professionals and devising support plans and risk assessments relating to your lead area. You’ll communicate this specialist knowledge to colleagues to produce a coherent and integrated package of support. You’ll also liaise with family members.
In the longer term you may also line manage support workers, however management experience isn’t required.
You’ll have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities including supporting people with autism, and whose behaviour may be considered challenging. You’ll also have demonstrable experience of supporting people through challenging and difficult times using Positive Behavioural Support, and of supporting people with non-verbal communication and self-harming behaviour.
Positive, with a can-do attitude, you’re resilient and an innovative problem solver and are willing to try new activities.
You’ll need to be flexible around shift and weekend work as the role includes a 24/7 rota. It is highly desirable that you have a full driving licence and are able and willing to use your own vehicle on business (for which mileage expenses will be paid).
The salary for this role is £19,672 - £20,663 pa pro rata (£10.06 - £10.57 per hour), dependent on qualifications & experience. We provide a range of benefits including a pension and shopping discounts.
You have the option of working additional hours or sleep-ins in a range of services - paid at £50-£70 extra per sleep-in.
