Overview

Being a support worker with learning disability charity Brandon Trust is a genuinely rewarding role. As a support worker in Whitchurch, South Bristol, you’ll support four ladies in their 20's to 40's to lead active lives, they enjoy attending social clubs, arts and crafts (making models, diamond paintings, puzzles) and attending football games. They are really keen on going out and seeing live music with the aim of going to a festival. Our benefits include:

About the role

You will join a supportive team where you'll be able to add value to the service, ideally you will have previous experience of support work.

 

You’ll enable the people you support to increase their independence and live life in the way they choose. You’ll provide person-centred support in all aspects of everyday life, including supporting with personal care and medication needs. You’ll support the ladies with everyday tasks (for example cleaning and cooking) as well as to do the things they enjoy, making models, diamond painting and puzzels as well as listening to music.

About you

You’re considerate, committed, resilient and respect people’s differences. Empathetic, you adapt your approach to individuals’ needs, have good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. You can build professional relationships and have a ‘can-do’ attitude. All support workers work flexible shifts to provide a 24/7 service to the people we support including evenings and weekends.

Full-time support workers work 37.5 hours plus one sleep-in a week (pay for sleep-ins included in annual salary above). Some services do not require sleep-ins, and salary for these roles is £17,794 - £18,492 pa. 

You have the option of working additional hours or sleep-ins in a range of services - paid at £50-£70 extra per sleep-in.
